Firefighters battle simultaneous blazes

Fire engines lined U.S. 41 Business in response to an office fire at the Island Sun Inn Friday evening.

The city of Venice fire department responded to two simultaneous fire alarms Friday evening. A restaurant office fire caused minor damage, while a mobile home suffered extensive damage. No injuries were reported in either fire.
“Holy cow,” said VFD Chief John Reed, “It was crazy.”
