Members of the Jacaranda West Homeowners Association listened quietly to Sarasota County Commission Chair Christine Robinson’s prepared remarks at their meeting Wednesday evening at First Christian Church. Their attitude changed when she started taking questions and the topic of traffic on Jacaranda Boulevard came up.
Numerous residents voiced concerns about traffic in general, and specifically about speeding and the number of trucks using the road. Law enforcement’s presence is spotty, they said, and drivers regularly ignore signs telling them not to block intersections. When traffic volume is high, they said, it’s nearly impossible to pull out onto Jacaranda Boulevard, particularly making a left turn.
