A one-man crime spree that began in Manatee County Saturday morning and ended in South Venice late Saturday afternoon revealed a communications hiccup that city and county law enforcement said will need to be addressed.

The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office sent out automated reverse 911 calls Saturday afternoon after convicted felon Jason Daniel Wayo, 34, of North Port, allegedly made his way in a stolen vehicle from Bradenton into a South Venice neighborhood, committing burglaries and numerous vehicle thefts along the way.
