At a gala reception on Feb. 10, the Visual Arts Center announced awards for its eighth biennial National Art Exhibition.

Five hundred renowned artists from across the nation entered works of art, which were juried by one of America’s greatest watercolorists, Dean Mitchell. He is quoted in a press release as stating, “Art has to mean something, whether it is commercial or not. I think that, in the end, the spirituality takes over.”
