DESOTO COUNTY — DeSoto County commissioners voted unanimously Tuesday to change the name of a local park to honor veterans. Commissioners signed off on a plan to officially change the name of DeSoto Park to DeSoto County Veterans Memorial Park after being approached by the DeSoto County Veterans Council.

“I’ve never been to a city or county that didn’t have a veterans park. We are one of the few places that doesn’t have one,” Veterans Council member Don Finkle said.
